Punkin’ Chunkin’ Fall Festival

Pumpkins take flight, fun takes over—join us for Howard’s biggest fall tradition.

A Day of Pumpkin Launching, Local Fun & Family-Friendly Festivities

Join us on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 10 am – 5pm at Bald Eagle State Park in Howard, PA for one of the most exciting and unique fall events in Central Pennsylvania! Hosted by the Howard Volunteer Fire Company, the Punkin’ Chunkin’ Fall Festival brings together incredible pumpkin-flinging machines, local vendors, and thousands of attendees for a full day of free, family-friendly fun.

What is Punkin’ Chunkin’?

Punkin’ Chunkin’ is the art (and sport!) of launching pumpkins through the air using catapults, trebuchets, and other engineered contraptions. Each year, teams from near and far show off their custom-built machines and send pumpkins soaring over the lake at Bald Eagle State Park.

It’s loud. It’s exciting. It’s one-of-a-kind—and it’s all to support a great cause.

A large crowd of people walks through an outdoor market at a lively Fall Festival, with vendor tents on both sides and autumn trees in the background.

What Else is at the Festival?

While the pumpkin launching is the main attraction, there’s a full day of fall-themed fun waiting for you:

  • Nearly 100 Local Craft Vendors
  • Delicious Food Vendors
  • Hayrides
  • Mini Trebuchets for kids and adults to try
  • Children’s Games & Activities
  • Emergency Vehicle Displays
  • Pumpkin Pie Eating Contest

And the best part? Admission and parking are completely FREE!
