Thank you for your interest in joining Howard Volunteer Fire Company. Whether you’re pursuing a role in emergency response or support, this is where your journey begins. Simply fill out the application below, and a member of our team will be in touch with the next steps. All training and equipment are provided — all we ask for is your commitment and willingness to serve. We’re excited to welcome new members into our fire company family!

What Happens After You Apply

Once you submit the online recruitment interest form, here’s how the process works:

  1. Receive Full Application
    You’ll get an email from us with a link or attachment for the full membership application.
  2. Complete & Return Your Application
    Fill out the full application and drop it off at the fire station during our designated meeting nights.
    (We’ll include the specific days/times in your email.)
  3. Background Checks
    For the safety of our members and community, all applicants must complete:
    • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check
    • PA Child Abuse History Clearance
      (Instructions for obtaining these clearances will be provided with your application.)
  4. Executive Board Review
    Our Executive Board will review your application and background clearances to ensure all requirements are met.
  5. Membership Vote
    Your application will be presented at a company meeting, where the membership will vote on acceptance.
  6. Probationary Membership
    If accepted, you’ll begin a 1-year probationary period. This gives you time to complete training, get familiar with our operations, and become part of the team.
  7. Full Membership
    After successfully completing your probation, you’ll be voted in as a full member with all rights and privileges.
