On Tuesday evening, members of the Howard Volunteer Fire Company joined forces with Citizens Hose Company No. 5 for a joint water rescue training exercise. The teams returned to a familiar spot along Beech Creek—previously the site of a real-world incident—to recreate the scenario and sharpen their skills.
Training focused on the deployment of advanced line systems and techniques for victim removal in swift water conditions. Using a foam board, crews practiced maneuvering in faster-moving currents, simulating real-life rescues in challenging environments. These joint drills are a vital part of ensuring our responders stay prepared, coordinated, and effective when it matters most.
